Finish off golden brown brats with a short simmer in a richly flavored beer - and plate with up with creamy mashed potatoes that have a real kick.
PREP TIME: 15 Minutes
COOK TIME: 30 Minutes

4 links (20 ounces) Chicken Bratwurst
1/2 cup amber beer
1 teaspoon salt
2 pounds (4 medium) russet potatoes, peeled, chopped
3/4 cup buttermilk or milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon horseradish
1/2 cup sliced green onions
salt and ground pepper to taste
Spicy brown mustard, if desired

Step 1  Step 1:
Brown bratwurst in large skillet for 5 minutes, turning the sausage frequently. Pour in beer; reduce heat and cover. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer or until fully cooked.
Step 2  Step 2:
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water with 1 teaspoon salt to a boil. Add potatoes; cook about 20 minutes or until tender. Drain well.
Step 3  Step 3:
Warm buttermilk and butter in glass measuring cup in microwave or small saucepan until butter melts. Stir in horseradish. Pour into potatoes and mash until well blended and fluffy; stir in green onions and season with salt and pepper.
Step 4  Step 4:
Serve bratwurst with mashed potatoes and mustard.
